Quite Peachy!

Everyone likes fruits right? If not there's always that one fruit that you can tolerate or even admire aesthetically. Well why not wear them? This S/S 2011 season that is the exact statement designers like Stella McCartney and Prada are making. The source of this inspiration is not the fruit itself, but fashion icons like Anna Della Russo and Josephine Baker from the twenties.

Check out some juicy pieces below!

Stella McCartney Citrus Dress

Stella McCartney Citrus Blazer

 Prada Banana Printed Shirt

And of course accessories!

Stella McCartney Citrus-print modal
and silk-blend scarf

Stella McCartney Falabella citrus-print
cotton clutch (LOVE!)

The Tale of a Fairy

If you are familiar with Karl Lagerfeld's short fashion films, then you probably already know that his new 30-minute film, The Tale of a Fairy premiers tonight at 9pm on Chanel.com

Lagerfeld describes the film as “...a movie about an ill-advised use of money which begins with violence and ends with feeling,”. Okayy. Can't wait to see this highly anticipated film tonight, he never disappoints.

And be sure to watch my all time favorite Lagerfeld short film Remember Now Chanel- Party at Saint Tropez here.

Sheer Thoughts

I've been stumbling over a recent cocktail hour fad that will undoubtedly catch craze this summer! Yes yes, sheer, lace or even see-through LBD's. I stumbled upon a few stars, that have recently been spotted supporting the trend.

at NYC's Saks Fifth Avenue

A very grown looking Emma Roberts, wearing Elie Saab hosts
Nylon Mag's Young Hollywood Celebration in LA

Leighton Meester, in a leather detailed Louis Vuitton mini
at the MET Gala in NYC

Rihanna, in a fail one-shoulder peekaboo
Stella McCartney lace gown at the MET Gala in NYC

Paula Patton, wearing a Moschino minidress at the Hollywood premier

While on the topic of Paula Patton, please be sure to read my interview with the Jumping the Broom cast here! The film is in theaters today!

A GAP in Sales

I will be polite, because I know everyone is going through tough times, but I am in no way shape or form a GAP customer, or fan for that matter. They're notorious for their fit-to-shape denim and pricey, PRICEY basics. I will go as far to say that I don't even think they have diverse SS and AW seasons (its the same story every year, knit sweater and sundress).

They began to throw their business under the bus when they decided to make the barely noticeable, but ironically controversial change in logo, that they've had for years.. you know from inside the blue box, to next to the blue box. But of course social media outlets gutted them, and they'll do it again this time around!

Today Patrick Robinson, the creative director at Gap, was fired. Apparently he wasn't bringing enough sales/customers back to the brand with his neutral color pallet for SS2011. HELLO!! He was following the runway trend seen in many mainstream designer's shows this season.

Gap, you cannot be saved.. like I said on twitter, Old Navy's next..

Enjoy.

She Opens Up !!

Little by little you guys will discover who my top Fashion Icons are, and June's Vanity Fair cover-girl Katy Perry is another one of them! I love how she takes risks and overly accessorizes, it almost reminds me of playing dress up in my mom's closet as a child. On the cover she looks gorgeous with her 1930s pin up inspired look.

Vanity Fair is well-known for their sophisticated articles and, society "in" crowd event coverage, but most importantly I find them to be one of the only mainstream magazines that really delve into their cover stories.
Katy Perry really opens up on her restrictions as a child, and how she eventually evolved into her own identity (selling millions of #1 singles now of course). She believes that “... sometimes when children grow up, their parents grow up,” which has lead her parents to accept her and her recent success.

Click here to read the full article, and don't forget to snatch a copy, to see flicks from Katy's Vanity Fair photoshoot with the amazing photographer Annie Leibovitz !!

Enjoy.

C'mon Elle !!

So this past week has been a crazy one in all aspects of society. However, I would like to share with you guys what happened to me today when I picked a second copy of Elle Magazine's Music Issue, with one of my other fashion icon's Gwen Stefani on the cover.

I've never experienced this, but.. Elle Magazine has put out two versions of the same magazine.. but different cover.. am I behind!? Is this old news!?

Two weeks ago I picked up this copy in a local grocery store.

And this one this afternoon. Same contents. Different cover.

Fool me once Elle...

The breathtaking images were photographed by American portrait photographer, Annie Leibovitz, her work is NUTS!
This issue primarily focuses on embracing your curves. That's great!
It makes me happy to see that American Vogue is acknowledging all its readers!

Catch Craze!

Following yesterday's theme, I know you guys have been noticing a specific shoe trend. Besides Jeffrey Campbell's whole fashion footwear line, Jessica Simpson's Dany cork pumps are all the rage!

Bloggers around the world are wearing these bold heels with whatever they can find in their closet, whether it be a long maxi dress for a causal day look or some opaque tights for an evening out. You have to admit, they're pretty sexy.. and almost the exact cut-out version of Jeffrey Campbell's Lita lace up boot that has also caught craze!

I know I know

I know.
"Where have you been?" you say? Running around to be honest. Let us catch up!
Immediately after DC Fashion Week the city spat up a second week dedicated to fashion, the 1st Annual Intellectual Property Students' Association Fashion Law Week, where they rose awareness on design piracy and the importance of copy writing. You know, like the freakish similarities in a Gucci "inspired" Forever21 belt.

I have also begun writing for a local online mag Glamourina!! Oh so awesome, so check us out!

In addition to that I have been assembling a collaborative test shoot for KIC Thrift Boutique.

AND I finally registered for my first styling classes! I'm excited beyond words!

Last but not least, yesterday I purchased the Chris Brown album F.A.M.E, both original and deluxe. Who's judging? Not you!
Its amazing, trust me.

Before I leave to run around some more, like a chicken with its head cut off I just HAD to do a Jewelry Critique of the Week!

These guys, are Marc Jacobs' Zip It sud earrings. Creative, but tacky, if one was to wear these it should be evenings only with an 8pm curfew. I wonder what YKK, the largest zipper manufacturers in the world, think about this one.

Enjoy!

A Hint of Miki

Every so often, I would love to feature some of my stylish friends, clients, and people that inspire me on the streets. What better way to start this inspirational series than with my greatly missed, eclectic friend Miki!
While browsing at the new Forever21 on Newburry Street in Boston, she couldn't help but to purchase these statement pieces.

Teddy Bear Necklace: Miki would wear it with a pair of dark wash jeans, a basic white tee, and a gray blazer to create a contrast with the black and gold in the necklace. She also stated that the bear necklace reminds her of the artwork of Japanese Anime artist Takashi Murakami whom she studied last semester.

Rams Head Brass Ring: Attention grabbing, she would pretty much wear it with anything.

Be sure to wish Miki a very very Happy 20th Birthday! Enjoy!

DC Fashion Week Networking Party

Your Late!!
I know i know, the past two weeks have been very busy, and finding the time to have a seat and entertain you guys is sparse. However, within the busy weeks I did find the time to attend the DC Fashion Week Networking Party last Thursday. The party took place at Tabac Bistro on U street, and I must say it was live! Everyone came out to meet and greet including models, stylists, bloggers/writers, magazine editors, and of course some fashion related self starters. I was impressed, especially with last Monday's fail event in mind.
I took a few flicks. Enjoy!

DC Fashion Week Kick-Off Party

Last night was the Kick-off to DC Fashion Week, and what better way to celebrate it than with a party. The evenings festivities were held at Kellari Taverna, a local DC restaurant, where they served seafood hors d'oeuvres and complimentary champagne. The overall atmosphere was great, there was a mixed crowd including models, vendors, and local magazine executives.
I'm curious to see what the rest of the week has in store, last night's event was poorly organized, leaving some with a bad taste in their mouths.

There are some photos of the event below, including one of my partner in crime! Enjoy!

Jewelry Critique of the Week !!

A little delayed, but hey, it's still within the week!
So today's piece is for the princess looking for a little edge. The reflecting gold hue is perfect for the upcoming seasons, and the D-shaped rings tone down the original spiky cuff design. This piece would look best with a deep red cardigan or flirty chiffon top.
Enjoy!

Never Say Never

PSA: I have a confession to make, I've held this in for quite sometime because in some parts of the world my obsession is frowned upon.. I have an incurable disease.. BIEBER FEVER !! And it is contagious, after reading this blog post you'll walk away wanting to know more about this young ball of energy.
Where do I begin!? Justin Bieber literally came out of nowhere, there was no warning, no introduction, just BAM polished sandy blonde hair and an angelic voice. We're used to Disney introducing our young stars, but in Justin's case Youtube actually put him on. He's Canadian which puts a smile on my face since I spent a few years living there, and not only can he sing, but he's practically an android. He fits nicely into the Michael Jackson, Usher, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown category, we could always use more of those!
His first full length documentary, Never Say Never, following his Diary documentary that aired on MTV last year comes out tomorrow in 3D (completely unnecessary, but SO amazing). Its a guaranteed #1 in the country type deal.
However, to avoid being attacked by the hormone crazed tweens, I will not be seeing it in theaters, I can wait till it comes out on DVD, perhaps Blu Ray? (They would.)

Couldn't stop humming this while writing this post! And am I the only one noticing Vampire Diaries Katerina Graham's cameo in the video? Enjoy!

Nomm Nomm Nomm !!

Just thought I'd share my very tasty, warm meal I devoured today at my internship. Half a Smokehouse Turkey panini, French Onion soup, and "complimentary" French baguette from Panera Bread (glad i didn't eat that, or I would have busted out of my pants). And if you noticed the keyboard in the background, I was updating Ma Garde-Robe and researching vintage fur coats that a client consigned.

And here is the blog post I promised from my internship at KIC Thrift Boutique. Enjoy!
